So download this game and see what you think. You can download plugins which alter the game in some way, either by adding more planets, ships, missions, or changing the way the game itself plays. The replay value of this game is another huge plus.

Of course you always have the option of working completely alone, which is probably the greatest strength of this game: You do whatever the hell you want! You can work for bounty hunters, shipping companies, rebels, special forces, loot ships and raise money, and demand tribute from planets. You can choose to work for them, or wait for another government to contact you. Once you build up your combat effectiveness a certain government will contact you to start doing work for them. You start out with a dinky little ship barely capable of defending itself and you raise money by doing missions given to you in bars and shipyards. Though this game isn't 3-D, the gameplay is very similar. This is the first piece of shareware I've ever payed for, and to me it is more than worth it.įor all the people who are unfamiliar with this game, the closest comparison to another game out there is Freelancer. I've already downloaded it and registered my own copy. Its been a good seven years since I last played that game, and ever since then I've been hoping for a Windows port. I remember years ago being a 14 year old kid playing the original Escape Velocity on my dad's Mac and staying up until 5:00 in the morning. FallenHero, you and I are part of a very small group of people who know what its like to be addicted to that game.
